Midwinter – the faint light of a short day fades – but not to darkness. A new light rises in the East. Birds of the day return to roost, while Waders of the night call quietly, mournfully, across the water. The crisp air hovers at the temperature of crystallising ice, and is completely still. The slightest sound travels right across the valley. At times like this, a person can be heard talking a mile away, at the far end of the lake. The Winter of 2020/21 has been the quietest I have ever experienced, and I shall never forget the moments like the one you see here.

The Sun went down and a new light was seen across Llyn Mwyngil.
